Who are we

SACEM – French Society of Authors, composers, editors of music

Sacem Université is a department of SACEM (French Society of Authors, composers, editors of music) dedicated to prospective on the one hand, and pedagogy for intellectual property and culture on the other hand.

Sacem Université aims at developing knowledge on intellectual property and creation’s trade, in a changing context. To this end, we develop two kind of actions: production of learning contents and tools for our different populations (students, academics and professionals), organization for prospective events (symposiums or panel discussions).

Founded in 1851 by Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music, SACEM is a private non-profit organisation managed by creators and music publishers.

Three key missions:

  1. collecting and distributing royalties for French and foreign Authors, Composers and Publishers whenever their works are used or circulated
  2. defending and representing Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music in France and abroad
  3. promoting and supporting creation in all its diversity
